| Direct administration of PCP to the prefrontal cortex increases the secretion of dopamine in the nucleus accumbens. Clozapine eliminates positive, negative, cognitive symptoms. It increases dopamine secretion in prefrontal cortex and decreases dopamine secretion in the nucleus accumbens. Schizophrenia occurs slowly. First, negative and then cognitive- lastly positive symptoms appear. |
