The disadvantage of traditional RNNs is that they can only use the previous context. In speech recognition, where all statements are written at the same time, there is no reason not to use future context either. Bidirectional RNNs (Brnns) do this by processing data in both directions with two separate hidden layers, which are then passed to the same output layer. |
