| Recent studies on schizophrenia neurochemistry suggest that there are presynaptic changes in subcortical dopamine neurotransmission along with cortical, glutamatergic and GABAergic system changes. The midbrain dopamine system has an important function in emotional and motivational behaviors. Dopamine pathways receive input from the limbic association areas and project into the cortex and striatum. Through these projections, the limbic system has an impact on the emotional and motivational aspects of behavior due to dopaminergic outcomes. The results of studies on the role of dopaminergic system in schizophrenia show mesolimbic hyperdopaminergia and mesocortical hyperdopaminergia. In the pathophysiology of schizophrenia, there is possible role of 5HT / DA interactions. 5HT2 / D2 antagonists have positive effects on psychotic symptoms, negative symptoms and cognitive functions. Administration of a low-dose D2 antagonist in combination with serotonin antagonists significantly increases dopamine production and secretion in the prefrontal dopaminergic projection areas. |

| Şizofreni nörokimyası üzerine yapılan son çalışmalar, subkortikal dopamin nörotransmisyonunda kortikal, glutamaterjik ve Gabaerjik sistem değişiklikleriyle birlikte presinaptik değişiklikler olduğunu göstermektedir. Orta beyin dopamin sistemi duygusal ve motivasyonel davranışlarda önemli bir işleve sahiptir. Dopamin yolları limbik ilişki alanlarından girdi alır ve korteks ve striatuma yansıtılır. Bu projeksiyonlar sayesinde limbik sistem, dopaminerjik sonuçlara bağlı olarak davranışın duygusal ve motivasyonel yönleri üzerinde bir etkiye sahiptir. Şizofrenide dopaminerjik sistemin rolü üzerine yapılan çalışmaların sonuçları mezolimbik hiperdopaminerjiyi ve mezokortikal hiperdopaminerjiyi göstermektedir. Şizofreni patofizyolojisinde, 5HT / DA etkileşimlerinin Olası rolü vardır. 5HT2 / D2 antagonistlerinin psikotik semptomlar, negatif semptomlar ve bilişsel işlevler üzerinde olumlu etkileri vardır. Serotonin antagonistleri ile kombinasyon halinde düşük dozlu bir D2 antagonistinin uygulanması, prefrontal dopaminerjik projeksiyon alanlarında dopamin üretimini ve sekresyonunu önemli ölçüde artırır. |
